Non-profit Experience

Intern will be involved with various tasks to assist staff at the WEDI organization. WEDI helps refugees and immigrants assimilate into our city, helping them get an economic boost to open their own businesses.

Start and end dates: To Be Determined by mutual agreement.

Location: 436 Grant Street, Buffalo 14213 (1 mile south of Buffalo state College)

How many hours: To Be Determined by mutual agreement.

Session(s) for internship?  Winter- Spring, summer, autumn or multiple terms

Any course prerequisites: None

Specific skills, if any, required:  Intern must be dependable and sympathetic to assisting very low income residents of the West Side of Buffalo.

Specific duties: 

  1.  Legal research to update our microloan policies and procedures
  2.  Assisting with the administration of WEDI’s college fellowship placements, including the Canisius/University at Buffalo Prosperity Fellowship and the Cornell High Roads Fellowship (e.g., managing paperwork for these programs and researching similar programs)
  3. Marketing WEDI’s efforts to expand micro-lending and business incubation programing (e.g. social media), collaborating with AmeriCorps volunteers about WEDI’s use of social media more broadly
  4.  Data input tasks, whereby interns would help transfer financial data from QuickBooks into the CRM software
